The Nicollet County Historical Society Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2020 NCHS Annual Meeting due to coronavirus concerns.

Civil War Medal of Honor recipient Corporal William A. Clark was one of 16 soldiers from Company H, 2nd Minnesota Infantry from Mankato, involved in a heroic action, fighting off 125 Confederate cavalry on February 15, 1863, near Nolensville, Tennessee. GENERAL WILLIAM CAREY BROWN
General William Carey Brown was born at Traverse des Sioux in 1854. He graduated from West Point in 1877. He retired as a Brigadier General after many years of service, including duty in the Philippine Islands and Mexico. Brown earned many medals, including the Distinguished Service Medal
WAR OF 1812 VETERANS
The oldest known veterans buried in Nicollet County are most likely three men who served during the War of 1812, a conflict between the U.S. and Britain.
