Come garden with us! Over the past two years, we've worked to revamp and renew the backyard at the Cox House. We're in the final steps, and you're invited to help us across the finish line. On Saturday, June 4, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, we're installing our new prairie garden with plants generously donated by John & Katha Chamberlain. Genevieve Brand from Seed to Site will guide volunteers through planting, as well as labeling, watering, and mulching. Tools will be provided, but please bring your gloves.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in Victorian life on the prairie as you enjoy a come-and-go outing to the Cox family home. Meet Cox House Manager Kate Roberts, who will be present to answer your questions.

Garden enthusiasts can choose from an array of beautiful native pollinator plants perfect for different garden sizes and types, from shorelines to rock gardens. Many of these are excellent plants for attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and other wildlife to a backyard. Seed to Site, LLC is propagating the plants.
Visit with costumed historical interpreters to learn about St. Peter and Army Captain Cox’s role in the saving of New Ulm. The is an outdoor, come-and-go event.
Enjoy this outdoor event with family and friends. Strawberry delights will be served and historic children's games to be enjoyed by all.
The public is invited to join the meeting of the Nicollet County Historical Society Board of Directors at the Treaty Site History Center.
