Aerial view of the Nicollet County Historical Society surrounded by extensive flooding. The adjacent parking lot and surrounding greenery are partially submerged in water. Trees and partially flooded fields can be seen in the background under a partly cloudy sky. Photo credit Dan Oachs. The metal travois on the prairie is hardly visible because the water is so high. Access to the site was restored overnight. You can see the high water line where the mulch lies across the sidewalk. The driveway and cement have mud and silt on them, but we’re glad because that washes away. The mulch line shows how high the water got on the north side of the building. The south side of the building had standing water the longest, but the sandbag wall was not breached. View from our north patio where the sandbags are located, looking out at Traverse des Sioux. Traverse des Sioux Road between the museum and the historic site. Still some standing water on the Traverse des Sioux historic site. Sediment buildup on our driveway from a week of flood water.
